Introduction Perak which means silver in English is the second largest state in Peninsular Malaysia. Divided into nine districts, Ipoh is the capital city, and Kuala Kangsar is the royal state.
In 1848, tin ore were discovered here, and since then Perak’s economy boomed. In addition to tin ore, natural rubber also played
an important role and is still being planted after the reign of 33 or 34 consecutive Sultans.It is when tin mining became more developed; Chinese were introduced in mine area.
This state is blessed with numerous limestone mountains which in turn create magnificent caves and one of it is Gua Tempurung. The main attractions are Pangkor Island, a beautiful island which offers visitors plenty of activities such as snorkeling. |
