Kuala Lumpur, the largest city in Malaysia, with a population of 1.3 million people, is situated on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia, function as the center of Malaysia's political, commercial and social life. It is a city with a combination of modern thriving metropolis and lingering old world charm.
With its wide ethnic diversity of Malay, Chinese and Indian, the end result is unique blend of age-old customs and traditions: colorful festivals, songs and dances and a rich variety of foods to tempt the palate. A unique blend of old colonial and new Asian where Chinese tea houses, Indian shops and Malay hawker stalls line streets next to world-class hotels and super hi rise office blocks, you can see all these in Kuala Lumpur.
The transportation in and to Kuala Lumpur is very convenient, once you reach KLIA, just take an Airport Limousine or KLIA express that brings you to KL Sentral in just 30mins. While in Kuala Lumpur, you can opt to take the rail-based transit system which consists of three light rail transit (LRT) lines, one monorail, one commuter rail system consisting two lines, and two high-speed airport rails links. You can also find metered taxis throughout the city. However during rush hour, traffic jam is very common and it might be difficult to get a taxi during this time. There have been many incidents of taxi drivers charging extravagant fares, especially among tourists, therefore, tourists are advised to travel with taxis who charge fare according to meters.
There are a lot of nice hotels in Kuala Lumpur, however, it is important that the hotels are situated in the Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur, where most of the major attractions are just in walking distance.
