Kedah, is situated at the northern part of the peninsular Malaysia. It produces more then half of the country’s home grown supply of rice, which is why it is also known as ‘the Rice Bowl of Malaysia’. It is considered a flat area, because of the flat area and the humidity that suits with planting paddy, you will find lands covered with paddy fields.
The capital city is Alor Star. Other major town includes “Sungai Petani” which is around 1 hour drive from the city of Alor Setar and also “Kulim”.
51 km away to the west lays a well known legendary island called “Langkawi”. It is famous for its beautiful beaches and the mystical legend behind it. Not far from Langkawi, lies the Payar Islands; which is one of the marine park in Malaysia.
It is a much simpler here, hectic-free with less entertainment city compare to the other cities. If you would like to have a relax stay and enjoy greenish scenery at rural area, perhaps you can consider Kedah as your vacation spot. |
